SWAT: Intense protest by the relatives and local people against the horrific firing incident that took place last night in the Shakardara (Shedla) area of Swat. Local leader Afzal Gujjar, who was injured in the firing attack, has staged a sit-in on the main road along with the bodies of his deceased loved ones.
Last night, unknown armed men opened indiscriminate fire on a single family in the Shakardara area of Swat. As a result of the attack, Afzal Gujjar’s son and Nephew died. The attack also resulted in the killing of the gunman.
Afzal Gujjar himself was seriously injured in this murderous attack; however, he joined the protest by taking the bodies of his loved ones from the hospital. Traffic was suspended, and long queues of vehicles were seen on Shakaradar Road. Expressing severe anger, the protesters have completely closed the main road at Shakardara Shedla to all types of traffic.
Due to the closure of the highway, kilometer-long queues of passenger vehicles and freight trucks have formed on both sides of the road, causing severe difficulties for the passengers. The protesters demand that the accused involved in the incident be immediately arrested and given exemplary punishment, and that law and order be established in the area. The local police and administration are present at the scene to end the sit-in and hold talks.
