PESHAWAR: Authorities have directed the relevant departments to take action against 45 private schools in Peshawar after identifying children of Afghan nationals allegedly residing illegally in Pakistan as students at the institutions despite a ban on their admission.
According to a local media report, 45 private schools have initially been identified where children of Afghan nationals residing illegally in the country are enrolled in different classes.
Sources said the Private Schools Regulatory Authority has been directed to initiate action against the educational institutions for admitting such students despite the restrictions. In the second phase, authorities are also considering cancelling the registration of the identified students with the relevant educational boards, sources said.
Meanwhile, scrutiny of children of Afghan nationals allegedly residing illegally in Pakistan and studying in government schools is also underway. Law enforcement agencies are collecting information as part of the process.
Sources said the relevant authorities have also sought complete details of Afghan students enrolled in private schools and colleges across Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
