Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has imposed strictest conditions to ensure transparency of the Medical Entrance Test (MDCAT) and eliminate forgery (proxy candidates) in the examination centres.

According to these new conditions, biometric verification has been made mandatory for all candidates appearing for the test this year, which is aimed at ensuring that only registered students can appear in the examination.

Under the new policy, all candidates below the age of 18 years will be required to produce a ‘Juvenile Registration Card’ issued by NADRA. The PMDC has clarified that now the simple ‘B-Form’ will not be accepted as an identity document for entry into the examination centre, as it does not have the facility of biometric data (chip and fingerprints). Candidates who are 18 years of age will be required to produce their original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC).

The council has warned that in case of non-biometric verification or absence of the Juvenile Card, no student will be allowed to appear for the entry test. Students and parents have been directed to approach NADRA offices before the registration dates and get their Juvenile Card made so that any problems can be avoided on time.

Along with this, a proposal is also under consideration that this time the MDCAT exam should be held immediately after the FSC exams (within a week) so as to reduce the influence of the academy mafia.
