MANSEHRA: Two schoolgirls lost their lives while another was rescued after they were swept away by a flash flood in Mansehra on Monday, police said.
Police stated that the tragedy took place in Boz Bela Jabori, where a sudden increase in the flow of Siran River resulted in the sweeping away of three students who were going back home from school.
A rescue operation was carried out after the incident. The bodies of two girls were recovered from the flood, whereas the other student was rescued from the flood alive but injured by the residents of the area and then taken to a medical facility.
Police have mentioned that the sudden increase in the water level of the river is thought to be because of the monsoon rains or a cloudburst in the mountains.
