DUBAI: Iran has launched large-scale attacks on Gulf countries, deploying 450 missiles and 1,140 drones, according to reports.
The Arab media confirmed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards executed an attack against a US airbase located in Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa area which involved twenty drones and three missiles. The attack destroyed the airbase’s main command centre and headquarters and caused fires in fuel tanks.
The senior advisor to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards declared that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed because any ship attempting to enter will face targeting. Iranian state media reported that Commander-in-Chief’s advisor, Ibrahim Jabbari, warned that the Iranian Navy and the Revolutionary Guards would destroy any vessel trying to navigate the key maritime passage.
The Strait of Hormuz serves as one of the world’s most important maritime routes which handles approximately 20 percent of global oil shipments. Global energy markets have experienced significant concern because the potential closure of this route would lead to extreme increases in oil prices.
The Secretary-General of Iran’s National Security Council Ali Larijani declared that Iran stands ready for a lengthy conflict because the nation will defend its civilization which has existed for 6000 years at any expense.
Experts warn that the ongoing tensions could have serious global repercussions which present a grave risk to countries in the region. The international community has started to observe the situation after Iran’s actions in order to find solutions for reducing tensions between the two parties. There are growing concerns over interruptions in maritime trade which occur throughout the entire region.
Ayatollah Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei elected as Iran’s supreme leader
Earlier, Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of martyred Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been elected as the new Supreme Leader of Iran. The Israeli media outlets claim that this decision was made by the Assembly of Experts (Majlis-e-Khabregan).
However, Iranian official authorities have not yet confirmed the report, and the news remains unverified by the Iranian government. The Assembly of Experts, which consists of 88 senior clerics and jurists, is responsible for selecting the Supreme Leader according to Iran’s constitution. Members of this assembly are elected directly by the people every eight years.
The development, if true, would mark a significant shift in Iran’s leadership, as Mojtaba Khamenei has long been speculated as a potential successor to his father. However, until official confirmation from Iran’s government, the claim remains speculative.
