PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a damage assessment report following strong winds, lightning strikes, and heavy rainfall that affected various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past 24 hours.
According to the PDMA, nine people lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries as roofs and walls of houses collapsed due to severe weather conditions across the province.
The deceased include five men, two women, and two children, while all seven injured victims are men.
The adverse weather also caused damage to four houses, with three partially damaged and one completely destroyed.
The reported incidents occurred in the districts of Dera Ismail Khan, Upper Dir, Kohat, and Orakzai.
PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations, and other relevant authorities remain in close coordination and are continuing relief and response operations in the affected areas.
The PDMA has directed district administrations to expedite relief activities and ensure the prompt provision of assistance and essential supplies to affected families.
The Director General PDMA has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist destinations, and strictly follow official weather advisories and alerts.
