PESHAWAR: Two major processions will be taken out in Peshawar on Monday to mark Chehlum Imam Hussain (RA), with authorities putting a comprehensive security and traffic plan in place across the city.
The first procession will begin at 3:00 PM from Zuljanah Imambargah, Akhwandabad, Mohalla Naujodi, Church Road, inside Kohati Gate. It will pass through its designated route and conclude at the same Imambargah.
The second main procession will be taken out at 4:00 PM from the Central Shia Jamia Masjid, Kocha Risaldar. Thousands of mourners are expected to participate in the central procession.
Officials said all processions will follow their pre-approved routes and end at their respective Imambargahs.
District administration and police have enforced a special security plan along the procession routes. Security agencies have been placed on high alert to maintain law and order.
To ensure public safety, mobile phone services will remain suspended in the inner city areas during the processions.
A special traffic plan has also been devised to maintain traffic flow on alternate routes. Citizens have been advised to use alternative roads during the procession timings to avoid congestion.
The administration urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement personnel deployed along the routes.
