ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have paid tribute to police martyrs on Police Martyrs’ Day, saying the bravery and sacrifices of police personnel are a source of pride for the nation.
In their messages on Monday, both leaders said that ensuring the welfare and every possible support for the families of martyrs is the government’s top priority.
President Zardari said police operations against terrorists are commendable. Police have foiled terrorist and criminal networks, and their services for the protection of citizens and the rule of law are praiseworthy.
He paid special tribute to the police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, adding that the welfare of martyrs’ families is a joint responsibility of the state and society.
”The sacrifices of our martyrs are the guarantee of our freedom, sovereignty, and security,” the President said. He added that the government will ensure better training, technology, and resources to strengthen the police.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, said that on Police Martyrs’ Day, the government and the people salute the brave officers and personnel who laid down their lives for the motherland.
The PM said that in the war against terrorism, extremism, and crime, the police have always played the role of a vanguard and demonstrated unwavering resolve. The unforgettable sacrifices of police martyrs played a key role in protecting lives and property, upholding the rule of law, and maintaining peace.
”The entire nation salutes these courageous sons and daughters whose selfless services have paved the way for a safe and bright future for coming generations,” he said.
Shehbaz Sharif also saluted the patience and courage of martyrs’ families, saying their sacrifices are the nation’s shared sacrifices. He reiterated that the government is committed to providing quality education, best health facilities, and all possible welfare measures to the families of martyrs.
