GILGIT: A French national died in a tragic accident on K6 peak in the Hushe Valley of Ghanche district, Gilgit-Baltistan on Wednesday.
According to initial reports, French national Pierre Guillaume was part of a three-member climbing team attempting to summit K6 when he was hit by an avalanche and died on the spot.
The other two members of the team have not yet returned to the base camp. Efforts are under way to determine their location and current condition.
A rescue and recovery team, consisting of local police and volunteers, has been dispatched to the area to search for the missing climbers and gather more details about the incident.
