PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa  (KP) Assembly on Wednesday approved the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026–27 after passing the demands for grants and endorsing amendments to the Annual Development Programme (ADP).

Law and Finance Minister Aftab Alam, along with other provincial ministers, presented separate motions for 66 demands for grants in the house, which were subsequently approved by the assembly.

The house also approved amendments to the ADP, including Rs627.9 million in grants for the provincial assembly.

Under the approved budget, more than Rs14.73 billion was allocated for the Finance Department, over Rs4.56 billion for the Home Department and Rs138 billion for police.

The assembly also approved Rs52.46 billion for higher education and Rs262.62 billion for the health sector.

In addition, Rs7.77 billion was allocated for the Communications Department, Rs11.27 billion for irrigation, Rs2.27 billion for the Minerals Development Department and Rs1.24 billion for the Population Welfare Department.
