White House Launches ‘Trump TV’ After Networks Ban Trump Coverage

WASHINGTON: The White House has launched a new YouTube channel named ‘Trump TV’ after media outlets unitedly banned Trump coverage.

According to officials, ‘Trump TV’ will be a 24-hour channel that will broadcast President Donald Trump’s speeches, important statements, and prominent videos of the administration.

Officials said Trump TV will be updated in real-time and broadcast 24 hours, and its transmission can be watched on YouTube and the White House website. This step comes at a time when Trump had, in recent days, banned reporters from three major media outlets, including CNN into the White House, after which major US TV networks have decided to ban coverage of Trump in protest.

The White House had banned CNN, Politico, and MS NOW from White House grounds, alleging fake news. CNN was scheduled to be the TV pool camera for Trump’s trip to New York for the UN General Assembly.

After CNN was blocked, the other four networks in the pool, Fox News, NBC, ABC and CBS, refused to provide pool coverage in protest. As a result, there was no audio of Trump’s appearance on Monday.

The five networks said in a joint statement that no administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting. The three banned outlets have filed a federal lawsuit against the White House alleging violation of First Amendment rights.
