Security has been tightened in Abbottabad district for the ongoing polio vaccination campaign, with 1,800 police officers and personnel deployed to provide security to polio teams.
Like other districts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the polio campaign has also begun in Abbottabad, where police personnel are accompanying vaccination teams in the field and performing security duties.
Under the supervision of Abbottabad District Police Officer Haroon Rashid Khan, 1,800 officers and personnel have been deployed across the district to ensure foolproof security for polio workers. Police teams will remain with the vaccination teams in the field throughout the campaign.
According to police sources, additional personnel have been deployed at sensitive areas, key locations and entry and exit points. Police have also intensified snap checking and established checkpoints as part of the security arrangements.
Special police teams will remain active to check suspicious individuals and vehicles and take action against criminal elements during the campaign.
DPO Haroon Rashid Khan has directed police officers and personnel to ensure the safety of polio teams and perform their duties with vigilance, responsibility and professionalism throughout the campaign.
Abbottabad Police has also urged residents to cooperate with polio vaccination teams and ensure their children receive the anti-polio drops to help eradicate the disease.
