PESHAWAR: Security arrangements have been started in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad in view of the possible long march on September 27, while areas have been identified to partially or completely suspend mobile phone service in different districts of the province.
According to official sources, in view of the security situation during the possible long march, proposals have been prepared to partially or completely suspend mobile phone service at specific locations in five important districts of the province. The final decision to suspend mobile service will be taken on the basis of the security situation and recommendations of the concerned institutions.
Sources said that in view of the possible march towards Islamabad, monitoring of vehicles and public transport going to Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore from Peshawar and other areas has also been started. Movement on various routes and movement of passengers is being reviewed. Sources said that information is also being obtained about passengers traveling by rail.
PTI announced last month a long march towards Islamabad to demand release of party founder Imran Khan, who is incarcerated at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, and resignation of the Shehbaz Sharif government. The party plans to bring caravans from across the country to KP, then march to Islamabad.
