The administration has been mobilized across the country against transporters charging exorbitant fares from passengers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Reports received from various cities including Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan where
Chief Traffic Officer made an emergency visit to various wagon and bus stands of the city. He went into the vehicles and asked the passengers about the fares themselves.
So far, challans have been issued to 107 public transport vehicles for overcharging, overloading and driving without a license. For complaints, Rawalpindi Traffic Police has issued a helpline number for citizens, where complaints of exorbitant fares can be filed immediately.
RTA active in Peshawar and DI Secretaries and assistant commissioners of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) visited the RTA complaint cells set up at various bus terminals.
The administration is refunding the excess amount to the passengers on the spot after listening to the complaints of the passengers.
Orders have been given to prominently display the official fares on all buses and bases, and the violating vehicles are being fined heavily and detained in police stations.
If any transporter asks you for more than the fixed fare, immediately file a complaint with the RTA representatives.
