A significant shortage of medical staff has been reported at government hospitals in Islamabad, with hundreds of sanctioned positions currently lying vacant.
The Federal Ministry of Health has shared details of vacant posts in government hospitals with Parliament, highlighting gaps in the availability of doctors and other healthcare staff.
According to ministry documents, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has a sanctioned strength of 852 doctors. However, only 467 doctors are currently serving at the hospital, leaving a substantial number of positions unfilled.
The staffing shortfall has raised concerns over the capacity of public-sector hospitals in the capital to meet growing healthcare demands and maintain efficient patient services.
