ISLAMABAD: A fresh spell of thunderstorms and rain is expected to begin in Islamabad and parts of the upper regions from August 27, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The weather department said strong winds are also likely during the spell, while residents should remain cautious during thunderstorms because of the possibility of lightning and gusty winds.
Islamabad is expected to remain hot over the next two days, with the maximum temperature likely to reach 36°C on August 26. The anticipated rainfall from August 27 could provide temporary relief from the prevailing heat.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather continues to prevail in Karachi, where a reduction in sea breeze has contributed to uncomfortable conditions. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to reach 33°C today, while the current temperature was recorded at 29°C with humidity at 75%.
Winds are blowing from the southwest at around 12 kilometres per hour, with the weather expected to remain hot and humid throughout the day.
Lahore is also experiencing intense heat, with the current temperature recorded at 33°C. The maximum temperature is forecast to reach 37°C, while the minimum is expected to remain around 29°C.
The PMD forecast indicates that the new rain spell could bring some respite from the heat in Islamabad and upper parts of the country. However, Karachi is likely to continue experiencing hot and humid conditions in the coming days.
