PESHAWAR, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is experiencing hot and humid weather with scattered rain and thunderstorms as the province remains under a PDMA alert for possible urban flooding and landslides until 21 August.
According to weather data, Peshawar recorded 29°C in the morning with a “feels like” temperature of 37°C due to 75% humidity. The afternoon rose to 33°C, feeling like 40°C. Light rain is expected tonight, with temperatures dropping to 29°C. The UV index remains “very high” at 10.
In southern KP, areas like Pahārpur are facing intense heat. The maximum temperature is hovering around 39°C, while the “feels like” temperature is reaching up to 48°C in the afternoon.
Other parts of the province including Happy Valley, Kohat, are also seeing cloudy conditions with light rain expected in the early hours.
The Met Office predicts light rain in Peshawar on 19 and 20 August, with day temperatures around 33°C and night temperatures near 28°C. Southern districts will remain hot, with highs of 39°C continuing till Friday.
PDMA has urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from rivers and rain drains, and keep children away from water channels due to the risk of flash flooding and landslides in hilly areas.
Officials have also advised people to stay indoors during peak sun hours and avoid direct exposure due to the very high UV levels.
