ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory for April 19, announcing the closure of several key arteries and the suspension of the Metro Bus service due to high-profile foreign delegates movements in the federal capital.
According to an ITP spokesperson, the Red Zone and its adjacent links will remain fully or partially closed at various intervals throughout the day. A major disruption is expected on the Islamabad Expressway, which will be blocked from Koral to Zero Point for security reasons, while traffic flow on the Srinagar Highway is also expected to remain intermittent.
Adding to the commuter woes, authorities confirmed that the Metro Bus service between Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been suspended until further notice to ensure foolproof security along the transit route.
To manage the fallout, the traffic police have directed motorists traveling from sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 toward Rawalpindi to utilize 9th Avenue. Similarly, traffic arriving from Faisal Avenue toward Zero Point will be diverted toward 9th Avenue.
Commuters seeking to travel from Zero Point to Koral are advised to use the Srinagar Highway to reach 9th Avenue, subsequently heading toward Stadium Road or Murree Road to reach their destinations.

For inter-city travel, those heading toward Lahore via GT Road are advised to use Chak Beli Road and Rawat T-Chowk. Meanwhile, Peshawar-bound traffic from GT Road has been redirected through Chak Beli Road and the Chakri Interchange to access the Motorway.
Those traveling from Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi have been suggested to use Murree Road instead of the Club Road link.
The ITP has appealed to the public to stay informed through official radio channels and social media updates before embarking on their journeys, emphasizing the use of alternative routes to avoid significant delays caused by the heightened security measures.
