ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: The district administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Sunday announced the immediate suspension of all public, private, and goods transport as the twin cities were placed under a high-security alert.

The decision, communicated through official channels by the Deputy Commissioners, follows heightened diplomatic activity and reports of potential protests in the federal capital.

In a statement issued by the Islamabad administration, officials announced that heavy and public transport would remain suspended until further notice, requesting citizens to extend their full cooperation to law enforcement agencies stationed across the city.

Simultaneously, the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi enforced a more stringent directive, suspending all forms of private and commercial transport across the district with immediate effect.

The sudden halt in mobility is part of a broader security plan as the capital hosts high-level foreign delegations for sensitive diplomatic talks. Security has been beefed up at all entry and exit points, with hundreds of checkpoints established to regulate movement between the two cities.

Sources indicate that the measures are aimed at ensuring foolproof security for the movement of state guests and maintaining law and order in the face of calling demonstrations.

While the suspension has caused significant disruption for commuters and travelers, authorities have maintained that these extraordinary steps are necessary for the safety of the public and the success of the ongoing international engagements.

Citizens have been advised to stay tuned to official updates and avoid unnecessary travel until the restrictions are lifted.
