Flour prices across Pakistan have continued to rise, with a 20kg bag becoming up to Rs 100 more expensive in several cities over the past week, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
The PBS report showed the highest increase in Karachi and Larkana, where the price of a 20kg flour bag jumped by Rs 100 to reach Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,600 respectively.
Islamabad remains the most expensive city for flour, with a 20kg bag priced at up to Rs 3,133. It was followed by Peshawar at Rs 3,100 and Rawalpindi at Rs 3,093 per bag.
In contrast, Lahore and Faisalabad recorded relatively lower prices. A 20kg bag is being sold at Rs 2,300 in Lahore and Rs 2,200 in Faisalabad.
The Bureau of Statistics said price variations across cities are due to differences in local demand, supply and transportation costs.
The continued increase in flour prices has added to the burden on households already facing inflation in other essential items.
