ISLAMABAD: Cricketer Salman Ali Agha has been officially reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for violating the Code of Conduct during the second Test against Bangladesh in Sylhet.
As per ICC, Agha has violated a Level One offense. It is about improper conduct in relation to any cricket equipment, grounds, facilities, or items while playing a match. In the second innings of Pakistan, in the 82nd over, Agha, who was out of the game, broke the board by hitting it with his bat out of frustration.
One demerit point has been awarded by the ICC to Agha. It is now his second offense that has happened within two years, increasing his total demerits to two. Last time, in March, while batting in a One Day International match against Bangladesh, he committed a similar offense in Dhaka.
Salman Ali Agha realized that he had done wrong and accepted the penalty suggested by the match referee Jeff Crowe.
Umar Gul clears air over viral video of dispute with Shaheen Afridi
Earlier, Pakistan’s bowling coach Umar Gul has addressed rumours of a confrontation with star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi following a viral video on social media that sparked widespread speculation.
Speaking at a press conference, the coach says that the video emerged when Pakistan’s star bowler Hassan Ali got injured and was lying on the ground, while Shaheen Afridi was sitting out there. It was regarding the habit of taping the knee before starting to bowl by Shaheen.
Umar Gul also adds that the video shared online was wrongly showing a friendly discussion as a heated argument. He says that the reactions shown in the video clip were natural and Gul did not realize that the recording was happening during that time.
The coach further added that the entire incident had been exaggerated on social media and there was nothing like a clash between him and Shaheen Afridi.
