ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered immediate financial assistance for families affected by recent rains and floods across the country and directed relevant authorities to accelerate relief and rehabilitation efforts.

The prime minister was briefed in detail on the situation in affected areas, the estimated damage and ongoing relief operations during a high-level meeting held to review the recent rainfall, monsoon situation and rescue efforts.

Reviewing the situation, PM Shehbaz said the affected people would not be left alone during the difficult period. He directed authorities to ensure the immediate provision of financial assistance, food supplies and other essential relief items to affected families so they could meet their urgent needs.

The prime minister also directed all federal ministers and secretaries to personally visit affected areas and monitor rehabilitation efforts on the ground. He said federal government representatives should remain present in the field to identify and resolve administrative hurdles.

The meeting also reviewed damage to critical infrastructure. The prime minister ordered the immediate restoration of damaged houses, roads and other infrastructure, stressing that all available resources should be utilised to restore normal life in affected areas as soon as possible.
