ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that it will stage widespread protests both inside and outside the National Assembly throughout the ongoing budget session.

The decision came after a four-hour meeting of PTI’s joint parliamentary party, chaired by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, where lawmakers resolved to maintain a strong protest strategy while refraining from boycotting the budget session entirely.

“Our demand is only one thing that we get a meeting with our party’s founder and receive due medical attention for his ailment,” Barrister Gohar said. “And until this is done, the protests will never end.”

PTI vowed to continue protests in and around the National Assembly building, showing their determination to fulfil their demands.

The senior leaders of PTI expressed serious concerns about the state of their party’s founder’s health and stressed that their protests were meant to draw the attention of the government to this problem.

“Throughout the budget session, we will participate in every parliamentary proceeding with our protests,” Barrister Gohar added, reiterating that PTI’s focus remains on securing medical access and a meeting with their party founder.

The announcement marks the start of what is expected to be an assertive series of actions by PTI during one of the most critical legislative periods of the year.

What Led to PTI MNA Iqbal Afridi’s Suspension for Entire Budget Session?

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has suspended Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Iqbal Afridi for the entire budget session following an incident in the House.

According to sources at the National Assembly Secretariat, the decision came after Afridi was involved in an assault against a staff member of the Speaker and exhibited unacceptable conduct toward DG Media and policemen who were on duty in the House. In this context, the Speaker pointed out that all members are bound to ensure the dignity of the House.

In the meantime, a motion regarding the suspension of the PTI legislator was moved by the NA member Farah Naz Akbar and accepted in the House in accordance with the majority vote.

The PTI member Iqbal Afridi will not receive any kind of allowance during his suspension, which will be enforced in a case of failure to implement it. Furthermore, the Speaker instructed to send the Member away from the House, and security personnel will be ready to carry out the order if needed.

In conclusion, the Speaker reminded that any violation of regulations in the House will lead to serious consequences.
