A new spell of monsoon rains is expected across several parts of Pakistan, with rainfall forecast in various areas of Punjab and Sindh over the coming days.
The Meteorological Department has forecast rain in most districts of Punjab until September 17. Intermittent rainfall is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and Murree.
Heavy rain may trigger urban flooding in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Gujranwala, Wazirabad and Faisalabad. There is also a risk of landslides in Murree, Galiyat and other hilly areas.
Rain has also been forecast in Khushab, Mianwali, Noorpur Thal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan.
Authorities have directed district administrations to remain alert and take precautionary measures, particularly in areas vulnerable to urban and flash flooding.
Meanwhile, several parts of Sindh are also expected to receive strong winds, dust storms and rain until September 16. The affected areas include Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan.
Karachi is likely to receive light rain accompanied by thunderstorms from September 14 to 16.
The latest weather system comes as Punjab enters what has been described as the ninth and final spell of monsoon rains, with authorities advising residents and local administrations to remain vigilant.
