PESHAWAR: PTI lawmaker Fazal Elahi, representing disgruntled members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, claimed that the party leadership has not been sincere toward the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asserting that their actions have contributed to his imprisonment.

Speaking on a private television program, Elahi stated that the PTI founder has been in jail for the past three years due to the actions of the party leadership. He said a group of 35 to 40 discontented members is united in their stance, with former KP minister Mushtaq Ghani also reportedly among the dissidents.

Talking about their next move, Elahi explained that they planned to come up with a joint and stable approach before the budget session to ensure the release of the founder of PTI. He said they were concerned about nothing but that alone, adding that they would seek commitment from each and every parliamentarian about their issue.

Regarding statements made by his fellow party member Shafi Jan, Elahi called them meaningless and described him as ‘a small child’. In the latest PTI parliamentary party meeting, 42 members were present, he added.

The remarks highlight ongoing internal tensions within PTI, particularly among members of the KP Assembly, as debates over the party founder’s imprisonment and leadership loyalty continue to surface.

Key PTI disgruntled lawmaker surfaces, delivers special message to CM

Earlier, a key figure among the disgruntled MLAs of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), former Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mushtaq Ghani, has voiced strong criticism of the current protest strategy.

In a media interview, Ghani stated that a homeopathic approach to protests would not lead to Imran Khan’s release. He revealed that Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has planned a protest outside the National Assembly on June 10. Ghani warned that if the Chief Minister proceeds with this plan, he may not return.

The dissatisfied members also threatened to complicate the provincial government’s affairs during the budget process. They indicated that if the Chief Minister does not visit Imran Khan in jail, they will withdraw their support for the government’s budget approval.

Ghani emphasized that his group consists of over 30 MLAs. However, he clarified that they are not personally opposed to any individual or the Chief Minister; their primary goal is to take substantial steps for the release of the PTI founder.
