ISLAMABAD: The recent economic survey shows literacy rate has increased from 61 percent to 63 percent in Pakistan.
The report stated that the literacy rate among men stands at 73pc, while the rate among women has reached 54pc.
In urban areas, the literacy rate was recorded at 74pc compared to 55pc in rural regions.
According to the survey, literacy among urban men stands at 81pc, while urban women recorded a literacy rate of 68pc.
In rural areas, the literacy rate among men was reported at 67pc, whereas women’s literacy remained significantly lower at 44pc.
Among the provinces, Punjab ranked first with a literacy rate of 68pc. Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa both recorded literacy rates of 58pc, while Balochistan registered the lowest at 49pc.
The Economic Survey further revealed that urban Punjab recorded a literacy rate of 78pc, while rural Sindh lagged behind at 39pc.
