NOWSHERA: The district administration of Nowshera has imposed restrictions under Section 144 following weather alerts issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warning of heavy monsoon rains and possible glacial outburst floods across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to officials, the current monsoon season is expected to bring intense rainfall, particularly in the upper regions, which may lead to rising water levels in the Kabul River, the Indus River, and connected seasonal streams passing through Nowshera.

On account of that, the district administration has declared that people should be restricted from going to rivers and nearby areas for any activities like grazing of cattle, swimming, fishing or boating in rivers.

The notice was passed under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code as it aims to prevent any loss of life in high-risk weather conditions.

DC Nowshera, Gohar Zaman Wazir, asked the residents to adhere to the instructions provided by the district administration as protecting lives and property always remains the top priority.

Authorities have also called upon the citizens to refrain from moving around in rivers during the monsoon season.
