MARDAN: The Deputy Commissioner of Mardan, Wasif Rehman has imposed Section 144 to protect forests and valuable natural resources from the risk of fire.

The order, issued on the recommendation of the Divisional Forest Officer, comes amid rising temperatures, dry weather, and the accumulation of dry vegetation, which have increased the risk of forest fires. Authorities warned that such fires could cause serious damage to forests, wildlife, biodiversity, the environment, and public property.

The instructions include the prohibition of all activities including the use of fireworks, making campfires, and performing actions that may lead to forest fires in forests and the vicinity of Mardan district for the next two months.

The Deputy Commissioner has requested the cooperation of citizens in protecting forests and preserving the environment. The people have been asked to report any activities that they find suspicious and dangerous to the concerned authorities immediately.

Those who violate the directives will be dealt with according to Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
