WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has warned of further military action against Iran, saying Washington is prepared to launch another strike while continuing to press Tehran to sign a nuclear agreement.
President Trump told journalists during an interview in the Oval Office that the United States responded to the alleged attack by Iran, which shot down an American helicopter. According to him, the machine was loaded with a large bomb, which required retaliatory actions.
The head of the United States encouraged Iran to agree to a so-called good deal, adding that Iran must not obtain any nuclear weapons in the future.
At the same time, Trump pointed out that Pakistan had played a certain role in easing the tension; in particular, he promised to stop after a conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. The latter noted that both Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir are his friends who continue supporting all the initiatives aimed at avoiding the escalation of the situation.
According to Trump, the main negotiations with Iran are almost over, leaving only the conclusion of the deal.
Trump stressed that he wants peace not only in the Middle East but also in other parts of the world, and while doing this, added that the US would do something if required, though without revealing anything about any possible military target and operation.
