Pakistan has achieved a significant breakthrough in advanced cancer treatment by successfully performing its first CAR T-cell therapy, placing the country among a select group of nations capable of offering the cutting-edge treatment.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Bone Marrow Transplant Centre of the Armed Forces successfully carried out the country’s first CAR T-cell therapy, leading to the full recovery of a 21-year-old patient.
The landmark procedure was made possible after years of research and preparation by specialists from the Army Medical Corps, who successfully introduced the highly advanced therapy in Pakistan.
The patient and their family were also commended for their resilience and cooperation throughout the treatment process.
The successful implementation of CAR T-cell therapy marks a major advancement in Pakistan’s healthcare sector, strengthening the country’s capabilities in treating complex blood cancers with world-class medical technology.
