BUNER: A video showing a distressed mother pleading with protesters to clear the way for an ambulance carrying her seriously ill child has gone viral following a traffic jam during a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Buner district.
According to the report, the protest led to the closure of a road, leaving traffic severely disrupted. The viral video shows the mother removing her headscarf and repeatedly appealing to the crowd to allow the ambulance to pass so that her sick child could be taken to hospital in time.
The video has sparked strong reactions on social media, with users criticising the obstruction of roads during protests, particularly when it prevents ambulances and patients from reaching medical facilities.
While users acknowledged that peaceful protest is a constitutional right, many argued that blocking emergency routes and preventing ambulances from passing was unacceptable.
Social media users said political differences should not come at the expense of human lives, describing the incident as a distressing reminder of the impact road blockades can have on ordinary citizens.
The incident has renewed calls for protesters to ensure that ambulances and other emergency vehicles are given uninterrupted passage during demonstrations.
