ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated a new Proof of Life Certificate system aimed at making the pension verification process easier for pensioners and reducing the need for repeated visits to banks.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the prime minister said the new system would provide greater convenience to pensioners, particularly elderly and disabled citizens.

Sharif said the introduction of biometric and facial verification would help simplify the process and improve access to pension-related services. He described the initiative as a step toward using modern technology to facilitate citizens.

The prime minister also commended Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Chairman and the Finance Ministry secretary for their efforts in introducing the new system.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said modern technology was being incorporated into the pension system to improve transparency and efficiency.

He said the services provided through NADRA had been expanded, while the Raast payment system would help make pension disbursements faster and more transparent.

Aurangzeb added that pensioners would be provided with the verification facility free of charge.

finance minister said that facial recognition was a demand of the pensioners for a long time and will give an easier method to satisfy the proof-of-life obligation.
