‎SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: ‎The dilapidated building of Sangah Primary School in Lower South Waziristan requires immediate repair, and emergency measures are needed to upgrade it to a middle school, local residents and education activists said.

‎According to community members, the school building is in a severely damaged condition and is not suitable for students. Despite efforts to keep classes running, the poor infrastructure has made it impossible for the school to function properly.

‎Although temporary teachers have been appointed with UNICEF support, the school is still not fully functional. Due to the lack of proper facilities and permanent staff, thousands of children from poor families are being deprived of education.

‎Parents in the Sangah area said that sending children to distant schools is not possible because of long distances, security concerns, and transportation costs. As a result, many students, especially girls, have dropped out.

‎”The building is crumbling. In winter and during rains, classes cannot be held at all,” said a local elder. “Our children are sitting at home while the government talks about education reforms.”

‎Residents have appealed to the KP government, Education Department, and relevant authorities to take immediate steps for the repair and reconstruction of the school building and to grant it middle school status on an emergency basis. They said upgrading the school would benefit not just Sangah but also nearby villages where no middle school exists.

‎They further stated that without permanent teachers and proper infrastructure, donor-funded temporary arrangements cannot solve the long-term problem.

‎Local leaders warned that if immediate action is not taken, an entire generation in the area will remain uneducated, which will increase poverty and unemployment in the already underdeveloped region.

‎The community has urged the authorities to visit the school and ensure the release of funds for its urgent rehabilitation.
