Spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, arrived in Chitral on his first official visit, where he was accorded a grand and very warm welcome at Chitral Airport.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi were personally present at Chitral Airport to welcome the distinguished guest.
Upon arrival at the airport, local children dressed in traditional attire presented bouquets to Prince Rahim Aga Khan V. Tight security arrangements were made on the occasion, while the atmosphere was filled with devotion and enthusiasm. Various important personalities present at the airport, including provincial ministers, senior government officials, administration officers and regional leaders of the Ismaili community, were also introduced to the distinguished guest.
During his visit, Prince Rahim Aga Khan also inspected various cultural and exhibition stalls based on Chitral’s traditional culture, handicrafts and local products. He expressed deep interest in the local culture and work of craftsmen and appreciated the rich cultural heritage of Chitral.
On the occasion of the visit, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi and Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also held an important meeting with Prince Rahim Aga Khan. During the meeting, the development of the province, especially the socio-economic welfare of Chitral and other remote areas, was discussed.
The Governor and the Chief Minister paid great tribute to the ongoing projects of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) for education, health, rural development and infrastructure improvement and assured full support from the provincial government.
This is the first historic visit of Prince Rahim Aga Khan V to Pakistan and especially Chitral after assuming the post of spiritual leader, with the aim of meeting his followers (Jamaat) and reviewing the ongoing development projects in the region. The visit has created a wave of joy among the Ismaili community across the country, including Chitral.
