HARIPUR: The body of 5-year-old Ayat Noor, who went missing 16 days ago, was recovered from a well and she was laid to rest on Tuesday.
Ayat Noor had left her home to play 16 days ago and went missing. Her body was recovered from a well 15 days after she disappeared, plunging the entire city into mourning. According to police, during the investigation and with the help of CCTV footage, 5 suspects allegedly involved in the kidnapping of the girl have been identified.
Police have arrested three suspects, while raids are ongoing at different locations to arrest the remaining two.Police stated that the three arrested suspects allegedly confessed before a magistrate that they sexually assaulted the child and later threw her into the well.
Multiple police teams have been conducting search operations at various locations for the past 5 days and further investigations into the incident are underway.
The Haripur District Bar Association has also announced a day of mourning over the tragic killing of Ayat Noor.Citizens are expressing severe grief and anger over the girl’s death.
A large number of people attended the funeral prayers, highlighting public concern and demands for justice. Citizens have demanded that all those involved in the girl’s murder be arrested and given the strictest punishment under the law.
