PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has outlined the provincial government’s priorities for the new fiscal year, directing cabinet members, advisers and administrative secretaries to strengthen governance, transparency and public service delivery while announcing a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
Chairing a high-level meeting, the chief minister said the provincial government would strictly enforce its anti-corruption policy, stressing that corruption at any level would not be tolerated.
He instructed authorities to take impartial action against corrupt and incompetent officials, regardless of their influence or political connections.
Sohail Afridi said the true measure of a department’s performance would be public satisfaction rather than presentations or reports, emphasizing that officials must focus on delivering practical solutions to citizens’ problems.
He directed all provincial ministers to visit at least seven districts every month, maintain direct engagement with the public and ensure the prompt resolution of local issues.
The chief minister also instructed all government departments to establish dedicated complaint cells linked to the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell, ensure the timely resolution of public grievances and submit responses within 24 hours whenever contacted by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on any matter.
He directed departments to set clear timelines for all new development projects to ensure timely completion.
Announcing a performance-based accountability mechanism, the chief minister said all departments would undergo a comprehensive review after three months, with rewards and disciplinary action determined on the basis of implementation and results.
