PESHAWAR: Qaiser Iqbal, the main accused in the Kohistan corruption scandal, surrendered assets worth over Rs 14 billion.

The accused was presented in the court of Accountability Judge Muhammad Zafar, where he recorded his statement. During the hearing, the court also directed the NAB officials to leave the courtroom.

The court asked the accused whether he was surrendering the assets under any pressure, to which the accused signed the documents to surrender the assets.

According to NAB officials, more than one kilogram of gold, more than Rs 5.61 billion in Pakistani currency, 21 thousand Saudi riyals, 8 thousand US dollars and 9 thousand 300 British pounds were recovered from the accused’s house.

Apart from this, valuable vehicles worth crores of rupees were also recovered from the possession of the accused. According to the investigation, one billion rupees were transferred to the account of the accused’s brother residing abroad, while it has been revealed that billions of rupees were also transferred to the accounts of various benamidars (unknown names).

According to NAB, the accused has also withdrawn from the properties and other assets purchased in the names of benamidars.
