PESHAWAR: Revenue clerks and their touts started collecting money from the public on various pretexts and looting the public in various revenue offices under the E-transfer policy of the government.
Sources said that the problems have increased due to the slowness in the transfer of property and the complexity in e-registration, although the Patwari community has completed the work, and the public is being robbed with both hands. Patwaris have started blackmailing the public on the photo of the property that Patwari servants have given.
In the form of touts, they are charging one to two lakh rupees for a picture of a person in the court and a picture of a person in a place. When people go to the Patwari to get a person’s identity and location pictures, they are asked to register for a small fee. The district administration has also given a free hand to the Patwaris in Peshawar.
Despite the offices of the DC, ADC, the Revenue Officer, and other senior officers being close by, there is no comfort, while in the province of Punjab, the powers of the Patwaris have been completely abolished, and the people have been facilitated.
