The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session will be held at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar instead of the Assembly Hall, for which instructions have been issued to make arrangements.
According to a statement issued by the Speaker’s House, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session will be held at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium on April 22 and all members have been informed in this regard. According to the statement, the Speaker has called the session at the Cricket Stadium using his legal powers.
It may be recalled that yesterday, Sohail Afridi, while addressing a party rally in Mardan, had announced to hold the session in an open field.
Speaker Babar Saleem Swati visited the cricket stadium with opposition and government members and reviewed the arrangements, while the police have also been instructed to make security arrangements.
According to the police, arrangements are being made for the meeting, while a large number of party workers and common people are expected to attend the meeting, for which special arrangements are being made.
According to government members, the meeting will be open and this will also give the common people an opportunity to watch the meeting live.
The government is also being criticized for holding the meeting in the cricket stadium. Peshawar sports journalist Imran Yousafzai criticized the meeting at the sports ground and said that this is bad news for cricket fans in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Peshawar.
‘Now if anyone complains about not getting PSL and domestic cricket in Peshawar, no one will ask them who held the assembly session in the cricket field, which is a new tradition being established.’
According to opposition members, sports fields should be kept away from politics. According to opposition member Shazia Tamash, arranging security for an important meeting is also a difficult task.
