PESHAWAR: The City Traffic Police launched a crackdown against the use of tinted glasses, taking action against 379 motorists for violating the ban, officials said on Sunday.
The campaign was carried out on the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Zahid Ullah, with traffic officials conducting inspections in various sectors of the city.
During the operation, tinted glasses were removed from 379 vehicles and the owners were warned against using tinted windows in the future.
Dr. Zahid Ullah said the use of tinted windows is prohibited and urged citizens to cooperate with the traffic police by complying with traffic laws. He warned that strict legal action would continue against anyone found violating traffic regulations.
The CTO also advised motorists to avoid using tinted windows as well as unregistered vehicles and motorcycles due to prevailing security concerns.
He added that the City Traffic Police regularly conducts awareness and training programmes to educate the public on traffic rules, aiming to reduce road accidents and improve traffic management across the provincial capital.
The traffic police also directed shopkeepers across the city to stop selling and installing tinted glass films on vehicles, warning that legal action would be taken against violators in coordination with the district police.
