It has been revealed that Afghan refugees living in Peshawar are illegally obtaining Pakistani identity cards and including them in the Family Tree Registration (FRC) of local families to avoid their eviction.
Faqirabad police have successfully carried out an operation and arrested 11 suspects, including gang operatives and Afghan residents. The involvement of NADRA officials in this forgery has also been suspected.
SP Faqirabad Resham Jahangir, while holding a press conference, said that the police raided a house in Faqirabad on a tip-off, where Aitzaz, Suleman Khan, Neem Shah, Fawad, Irfan, Ajmal, Asif, Qari Bashir, and other suspects were making a deal to make identity cards for an Afghan family. Important documents have been recovered from the possession of the arrested accused, who are said to belong to Faqirabad, Cantt, Badaber, and Nowshera.
According to the initial investigation, this gang was active in different districts for the last 8 to 9 months. This group used to look for needy and poor Pakistani citizens who would agree to provide their family documents in exchange for money. Later, these accused used to get foreigners included in the family tree of these Pakistani families and prepare official documents for a hefty sum of Rs 1.5 to 1.6 lakh. The police have currently detained 11 people, including two Afghan nationals, and have started further investigation.
