Government collects Rs 180 million Petroleum levy in one and a half month, as an extraordinary increase has been recorded in the collection of levies imposed on the petroleum industry.

Sources in the Ministry of Finance have revealed that during the last one and a half months of the ongoing war and tension between the United States and Iran, the government of Pakistan has collected more than Rs 180 billion from the public in the form of petroleum levy.

According to the data, a total of Rs 1,234 billion has been collected in the form of petroleum levy from July to mid-April of the current fiscal year.

This collection is about Rs 400 billion more than the same period of the previous fiscal year, which is being described as a major financial leap in the country’s history. Rs 157 billion was collected in July, while in August this amount was Rs 103 billion 46 crore, while Rs 112 billion 85 crore was collected in September and Rs 143 billion 48 crore in October.

In November, Rs 148 billion 36 crore was collected, while in December, the highest monthly collection of this year was Rs 162 billion 46 crore. Similarly, Rs 108 billion 76 crore was collected in January, Rs 120 billion 39 crore in February and Rs 139 billion 48 crore in March, while Rs 38 billion has been collected in the first 15 days of April.
