KALAM: Fresh snowfall has blanketed the mountains of Kalam, transforming the surrounding peaks and forests into a picturesque winter landscape.

The snowfall has further enhanced the natural beauty of the scenic valley, while bringing a noticeable chill to the weather, particularly in the upper areas.

The newly snow-covered mountains have attracted the attention of tourists and nature enthusiasts, adding to Kalam’s scenic appeal.

Severe hailstorms and torrential rains have disrupted routine life in various parts of Swat, with large-sized hailstones covering roads in a white blanket and causing significant damage to vegetables, orchards and standing crops.

The heavy rainfall has also brought a noticeable drop in temperatures. Flash flooding in streams and waterways has forced the closure of the main Kalam Road to all traffic, causing difficulties for tourists and local residents.

Meanwhile, the onset of winter has begun to make its presence felt in Gilgit-Baltistan, where fresh snowfall at Babusar Top has covered the mountains in white.

The snowfall has further enhanced the scenic beauty of the valley, while the weather has turned considerably colder.

In Ghizer, heavy rains triggered flooding, with a place of worship and a house reportedly coming under the impact of floodwaters. Roads have been blocked at several locations, while agricultural land and standing crops have also suffered significant damage.
