The armed forces have paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan on Defence and Martyrs’ Day, saluting their sacrifices and services rendered in defence of the country.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu also paid homage to the nation’s martyrs.
The ISPR also paid tribute to the veterans and families of the martyrs, acknowledging their sacrifices, services and continued contributions to the country.
In its statement, the military’s media wing said September 6 was an enduring symbol of national unity, courage and resolve. It recalled that during the 1965 war, the Pakistani nation stood united in defence of the motherland and fought alongside the armed forces against the enemy.
The ISPR said Pakistan’s martyrs represented the highest values of duty, honour and sacrifice, adding that the country’s defenders made great sacrifices on the battlefield, in the air and at sea.
It said the generations of service and sacrifices rendered by Pakistan’s defenders reflected an unparalleled commitment and loyalty to the country.
The ISPR said the enduring legacy of the martyrs would continue to serve as a guiding light for future generations, while the families of the fallen remained symbols of courage, determination and steadfastness.
The nation, it added, would always remember the sacrifices of its martyrs, veterans and their families, while the brave sons of the country who laid down their lives in defence of Pakistan would remain immortal in the nation’s history.
