PESHAWAR: To replace the free electricity units currently available to its employees, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has approved fixed monthly cash allowances based on employees pay scales.
According to an office order issued by PESCO, the company’s Board of Directors approved the policy in its 226th meeting held on September 3, 2026. The decision was taken in line with the federal government’s policy regarding the monetisation of free electricity units for employees of power-sector organisations.
Under the new arrangement, PESCO employees will receive monthly cash allowances against their admissible electricity units. The policy will be applicable in PESCO with effect from August 1, 2026, subject to the prescribed terms, conditions and eligibility criteria.
Under the new policy, BPS-17 employees will receive Rs15,858 per month against 450 units, while BPS-18 employees will get Rs21,996 against 600 units. Similarly, employees in BPS-19 will receive Rs37,594 per month against 880 units, whereas BPS-20 employees will be entitled to Rs46,992 against 1,100 units.
The decision was taken in accordance with an Office Memorandum issued by the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) regarding the monetization of free electricity units for employees of WAPDA, ex-WAPDA DISCOs, GENCOs, NTDC and PITC.
