MARDAN: More than 20 villages connected to the Janabad feeder in Mardan are ahead with severe electricity crisis as residents of the area have alleged that they get only a few hours of power during day and night.
The affected villages included Mahudheri, Chamtar, Akbarabad, Mahonrai and surrounding areas. They said that unscheduled prolonged power outage have made their lives miserable. Residents said frequent tripping and low voltage had further worsened the situation, making it difficult for them to carry out routine household activities.
They were of the views that prolonged power crisis has also affected children’s education and local businesses, while water supply and other domestic needs have been disrupted due to electricity outages. Area residents complained that they had been regularly paying their electricity bills but were still facing persistent power-related problems, which they termed regrettable.
According to residents, the situation has remained unchanged for more than two years despite repeated complaints to the relevant authorities. They said no permanent solution had been found so far and urged the Peshawar Electric Power Company (PESCO) and other concerned authorities to take immediate steps to resolve the problems affecting the Janabad feeder.
