ISLAMABAD: Pakistani-French fashion designer, Mehmood Bhatti has rejected reports circulating in Pakistani and French media claiming that he has been jailed, describing the reports as “false and misleading.”

French media outlets reported last week that a court in Paris had sentenced Bhatti in connection with a tax fraud and money laundering case. According to French newspaper Le Monde, Bhatti received a two-year suspended prison sentence, along with a fine and restrictions on business activities, after pleading guilty in an appeals court case in Paris.

In his response, Bhatti denied that he had been imprisoned and said media reports had misrepresented the court’s ruling.

The case has attracted attention in both Pakistan and France due to Bhatti’s prominence in the fashion industry and business community.
