Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has abolished the urgent fee for driving licences and reduced the processing and delivery time for regular licences from two weeks to just three days to facilitate applicants.
The decision was taken on the directions of Islamabad Inspector General of Police Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry to simplify the licensing process and make it faster and more convenient for citizens.
Under the new policy, applicants will no longer have to pay an additional fee to obtain their driving licences on a priority basis. All applicants can now benefit from faster processing by paying the regular fee.
Applicants can receive their driving licences at their home addresses within two to three days without any additional charges. They are required to provide their residential addresses on the application form to have their licences delivered directly to their homes.
The new system also requires citizens applying for a driving licence to visit an ITP office only once. During the visit, applicants will complete the necessary procedures, including medical and physical tests, photography and other formalities.
The traffic police have also simplified the process for renewing and obtaining duplicate driving licences. Citizens visiting ITP offices or police facilitation centres can now receive their renewed or duplicate licences within an hour after paying the prescribed fee.
The urgent fee for these services has also been abolished, allowing applicants to obtain their documents without paying extra charges for faster processing.
The reforms aim to eliminate lengthy waiting periods, simplify procedures and make driving licence services more accessible and convenient for residents of Islamabad.
