The Lahore Traffic Police have stepped up their crackdown on vehicles with outstanding e-challans, impounding a commercial pickup truck in the Green Town area after it was found to have unpaid fines amounting to Rs60,000.
According to the traffic police, the action was taken as part of an ongoing campaign against motorists violating traffic laws.
Traffic Inspector Zahir Abbas said the vehicle’s e-challan record was checked during a routine inspection, revealing that its owner had failed to pay multiple traffic fines.
He said the commercial pickup had violated traffic signals on four occasions, with each offence carrying a fine of Rs15,000, resulting in total outstanding e-challans of Rs60,000.
The inspector added that the vehicle had been impounded and shifted to the relevant police station for legal proceedings due to non-payment of the fines. Further action will be taken in accordance with traffic laws.
The Lahore Traffic Police said Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras across the city are being used to issue e-challans for more than 20 types of traffic violations.
Authorities added that enforcement against vehicles with outstanding fines is being further strengthened through the identification of defaulters.
Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations, drive responsibly, and pay e-challans on time to avoid legal action and unnecessary inconvenience.
