ISLAMABAD: A total of 74,474 people leaving for abroad were offloaded over the past three years by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other law enforcement agencies, according to official documents.
The documents show that the FIA offloaded 39,786 passengers, while 34,688 others were stopped from travelling by various government agencies and institutions.
According to the records, 30,021 passengers were offloaded by different airlines, 3,617 individuals voluntarily cancelled their travel, and 40 passengers were stopped by the Pakistan Customs, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), or the Airport Security Force (ASF).
The documents state that 20,408 passengers were offloaded due to incomplete or missing travel documents, while 12,673 individuals were stopped over low-profile status or suspicious travel plans. Another 3,450 passengers were prevented from travelling because their names appeared on the stop list.
The FIA further revealed that 505 passengers were offloaded for attempting to travel through incorrect travel routes, 281 individuals were stopped for carrying forged documents, and 176 passengers were offloaded due to unsatisfactory travel histories.
Additionally, 145 passengers were offloaded for document verification, 258 individuals were stopped because they were underage, while 24 people travelling on visit visas with the apparent intention of seeking employment abroad were also prevented from leaving the country.
